Will There be New Taxes or Fees?

• The new town must by law adopt all current fee structures.
• The excellent financial position of the new town makes the need for new taxes or fees unnecessary.
• State law, including Proposition 13 and Proposition 218 require a vote of the people (usually by a supermajority) in order to raise any tax.
• Businesses generate the revenues that Oakhurst will use to provide services.  It would not make sense for the town to increase fees which could drive businesses away and that would reduce revenues.
